UPSC IES Answer Key 2018 ESE (Engineering Service Pre) 7th Jan Ques Papers ~ Cut Off:

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) shall host on the 7th Date of January 2018 Engineering Services (Preliminary) Examination 2018 consisting of 04 Categories (Cat – I Civil Engineering, Cat-II Mechanical Engineering, Cat-III Electrical Engineering and Cat-IV Electronics and Tele-Communication Engineering comprising Paper-I & Paper-II) aimed at Shortlisting the Candidates for the Engineering Services (Main) Examination 2018. The Engineering Services Examination 2018 (All India Competitive Test / All India Competitive Examination) consists of 02 Papers comprising the Multiple Choice Questions of Objective Type carrying Maximum 500 Marks as per the Pattern of the Examination exhibited in the Tabular Form in the subsequent Part.

UPSC ESE Answer Key 7th Jan 2018

The Engineering Services (Main / Stage – II) Examination will consist of Two Conventional Type Papers in the Engineering Discipline specific with the Examination Duration of 03 (Three) Hours and Maximum Marks 600 (300 Marks in each Paper).

The Union Public Service Commission shall Release within 07 Days of the Engineering Services (Preliminary) Examination 2018 the Provisional Answers Key for the ESE Test Question Paper Booklet Set A, Set B, Set C & Set D for Civil Engineering Papers I & II, Mechanical Engineering Papers I & II, Electrical Engineering Papers I & II and Electronics and Tele-Communication Engineering Papers I & II, respectively to seek the Candidates’ Objection to the same.

UPSC Engineering Services Exam 2018 Expected Cut Off

The Union Public Service Commission shall, at its Discretion shall determine the Category-wise Minimum Qualifying Marks to be Obtained in each Paper by the Candidates.  Only Candidates having Secured Minimum Qualifying Marks Category-wise in each Paper and in Aggregate, shall be Shortlisted for the Engineering Services (Main) Examination 2018.  The Candidates shall have to Secure the Minimum Qualifying Marks as may be Stipulated by the Union Public Service Commission.

The Union Public Service Commission will Announce the Result for the Engineering Services (Preliminary) Examination based on the Candidates’ Performance and Marks Obtained in the said Competitive Written Examination.

UPSC ESE IES Expected Cut Off 2018

The Engineering Services (Main / Stage – II) Examination will consist of Two Conventional Type Papers in the Engineering Discipline specific with the Examination Duration of 03 (Three) Hours and Maximum Marks 600 (300 Marks in each Paper).

The Conventional Papers must be Answered in English. Question Paper will be set in English Medium only.

Procedure for Selection:

The Engineering Services Examination (All India Competitive Examination) shall be conducted according to the following Selection Plan:

  • Stage-I: Engineering Services (Preliminary / Stage-I) Examination (Objective Type Papers) comprising the Multiple Choice Questions of Objective Type Questions carrying Maximum 500 Marks (Paper 1 – 200 Marks & Paper II – 300 Marks for Selection of the Candidates for the Stage – II of the Engineering Services Examination (ESE): Engineering Services (Main / Stage-II) Examination;
  • Stage-II: Engineering Services (Main / Stage – II) Examination (Conventional Type Papers) carrying Maximum 600 Marks and
  • Stage-III: Personality Test for Total 200 Marks.

Examination Personality Test UPSC Engineering Services Carrying 200 Marks

The Candidates who obtain such Minimum Qualifying Marks in the Stage – I: Engineering Services (Preliminary / Stage – I) and Stage – II: Engineering Services (Main / Stage – II) Examination as may be fixed by the Union Public Service Commission at their discretion, shall be summoned by them for Stage – III (Personality Test). The number of the Candidates to be summoned for Personality Test shall be about Twice the number of Vacancies to be filled. The Personality Test will carry 200 Marks (with No Minimum Qualifying Marks).

The Marks obtained by Un-Reserved / General Candidates unalike those belonging to Reserved Categories in the Stage – I: (Preliminary / Stage – I) Examination, Stage- II: (Main / Stage – II) Examination and Stage – III (Personality Test) would Determine their Individual Final Ranking.

The Candidates would be allotted to Various Services keeping in view their Respective Ranks in the Engineering Services Examination and the Preference expressed by them for Various Services / Posts.

In the Personality Test, Special Attention will be paid to Assessing the Candidate’s Capacity for Leadership, Initiative and Intellectual Curiosity, Tact and other Social Qualities, Mental and Physical Energy, Powers of Practical Application and Integrity of the Character.
