GATE 2020 Notification Online Application Form Eligibility Syllabus Exam Pattern:-
The Indian Institute of Technology (Indian Institute of Technology), Delhi, is all set to issue a Notification to invite Online Application Forms in respect of the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) – 2020. The starting date of GATE 2020 application form is 03rd September 2019 and the closing date of submission of online application is 24th September 2019.
GATE 2020 Notification Online Application Form
The Indian Institute of Technology (Indian Institute of Technology), Delhi Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering 2020 would be held on 01st, 02nd, 08th & 09th February 2020 for Admission in the Post Graduate Courses (Masters’ and Doctoral) in India, with the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) and other Government Scholarships / Assistantships in Engineering / Technology / Architecture/ Science. GATE – 2020 is open to those who meet with the prescribed Eligibility Conditions qualify for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering – 2020 likely to be conducted February 2020 followed by the Result of the GATE 2020 expected to be announced on March 2020.
The online application process is going to starts from 03rd September 2019 and close on 24th September 2019. Extended of the last date of online application form is 01st October 2019.

This time the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2020 Computer Based Entrance Examination will be organized by IIT Delhi. The window is opening from 03rd of September 2019 for registration in GATE 2020. This time, a paper of biomedical engineering subject is also added in the GATE 2020 exam. The GATE 2020 is likely to conduct on 01st, 02nd, 08th & 09th of February 2020 and the results of GATE 2020 entrance examination is tentatively declared on 16th of March 2020.

We would place the complete information regarding the GATE – 2020, comprising the Commencement of the Online Registration, Deadline of the Online Registration, Detailed GATE – 2020 Schedule, Examination Syllabi and Pattern, Date for the announcement of the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering 2020 Result among others that might be intimated by the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, other Zonal Indian Institutes of Technology as well as the Indian Institute of Science.
The validity of GATE 2020 Score would remain for a period of three (03) Years only from the date of the announcement of results. For all the papers, GATE 2020 Examination shall be conducted in Online Mode only. For some of the papers, the Examination will be conducted in multiple sessions. Eligibility Conditions:
The Candidates in the following categories ONLY are eligible to appear for GATE:
- Bachelor’s Degree-holders in Engineering / Technology / Architecture Four (04) Years after 10+2 / Post-Diploma) and those who are in the Final Year of such Programs;
- The Candidates in the Final Year of the Four-Year Bachelor’s Degree Program in Science (B.S.);
- Master’s Degree holders in any branch of Science / Mathematics / Statistics / Computer Applications or equivalent and those who are in the Final Year of such Programs;
- The Candidates in the Second or Higher Year of the Four-year Integrated Master’s Degree Program (Post-B.Sc.) in Engineering / Technology;
- The Candidates in the Fourth or Higher Year of Five-Year Integrated Master’s Degree Program or Dual Degree Program in Engineering / Technology;
- The Candidates in the Final Year of Five-Year Integrated M.Sc. or Five Year integrated B.Sc. / M.Sc. Program and
- The Candidates with the Educational Qualifications obtained through Examinations conducted by Professional Societies recognized by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) / the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) (e.g., AMIE by IE (I), AMICE (I) by the Institute of Civil Engineers (India) ICE(I)) as equivalent to B.E. / B.Tech. Those who have completed Section A or equivalent of such professional courses are also eligible.
How to Apply:
The Candidates shall be required to Online, i.e., GATE 2020.
Application Fee & Mode of Payment:
Online; Or through e-Challan via State Bank of India or Axis Bank (additional Bank Charges may apply). The Application Fee shall be non-refundable.
GATE – 2020:
The Organizing Institute shall inform the Category-wise Application Fee through GATE 2020 Notification for General / OBC / SC/ST/PwD.
Application Process:
The Candidates would be able to submit their respective Online Application Forms till 24th September 2020 by accessing to the Website of the Zonal GATE Office of the Examination City where the candidate wishes to appear.

Commencement of ONLINE Application
Last Date for submission of Online Application (Website closure on 24th September 2019) including the upload of supporting documents (Photograph, Proof of the Eligibility and Category Certificate for SC / ST / PwD) Candidates at the respective zonal GATE Offices.
GATE 2020 Examination Marking Scheme and Pattern:
GATE: Marking Scheme:
- For 1 Mark Multiple Choice Questions 1/3 (One-Third) Mark shall be deducted
- For 2 Mark Multiple Choice Questions 2/3 (Two-Third) Mark shall be deducted
- No Negative Marking for Numerical Answer Type Questions
General Aptitude (GA) Questions:
In all Papers, General Aptitude (GA) Multiple Choice Questions shall carry 15 Marks. The General Aptitude Section including 5 Multiple Choice Questions shall carry 01 mark each (Sub-Total 05 Marks) and 05 Questions carrying 02 Marks each (Sub-Total 10 Marks).
Question Papers other than CG, XE and XL:
These Papers containing 25 Multiple Choice Questions carrying 01 Mark each (Sub-Total 25 Marks) and 30 Questions carrying 02 Marks each (Sub-Total 60 Marks)
Geology and Geophysics (GG) Papers:
Apart from General Aptitude Section, the GG Question Paper consists of Two (02) Parts: Part A & Part B. Part A is common for all candidates. Part B contains Two Sections; i.e., Section I (Geology) Section II (Geo-Physics). The candidates are required to attempt Part A and either Section 1 or Section 2 in Part B.
Part A consists of 25 Multiple Choice Questions carrying 01-Mark each (Sub-Total 25 Marks) and some of these might be Numerical Answer Type Questions. Each section in Part B (Section 1 & Section 2) comprises 30 Objective-Type Multiple Choice Questions carrying 02 Marks each (Sub-total 60 Marks and some of these might be Numerical Answer Type Questions).
Engineering Science (XE) Paper:
In XE Paper, Engineering Mathematics Section (Section A) is compulsory. This Section contains 11 Questions carrying a total of 15 Marks; 07 Questions carrying 01 Mark each (Sub-Total 07 Mark each) and 04 Questions carrying 02 Marks each (Sub-total 08 Marks). Some questions may be Numerical Answer Type Questions.
Each of the other sections of the XE Paper (Section B through G) contains 22 Questions carrying a total of 35 Marks; 09 Questions carrying 01 Mark each (Sub-total 09 Marks) and 13 Questions carrying 02 Marks each (Sub-total 26 Marks). Some questions may be Numerical Answer Type Questions.
Life Sciences (XL Paper):
In XL Papers, Chemistry Section (Section H) IS compulsory. This Section contains 15 Questions carrying a total of 25 Marks; 05 Questions carrying 01 Mark each (Sub-total 05 Marks) and 10 Questions carrying 02 Marks each (Sub-total 20 Marks). Some questions might be Numerical Answer Type Questions.
Each of the other Sections of XL Paper (Sections I through M) contains 20 Questions carrying a total of 30 Marks. 10 Questions carrying 01 Mark each (Sub-total 10 Marks) and 10 Questions carrying 02 Marks each (Sub-total 20 Marks). Some questions might be Numerical Answer Type Questions.
Note on Negative Marking for Wrong Answers:
For a wrong answer chosen and submitted for an Objective-Type Multiple Choice Questions by the candidates, there would be Negative Marking. There would deduction of Marks as follows:
- For 1 Mark Multiple Choice Questions 1/3 (One-Third) Mark shall be deducted
- For 2 Mark Multiple Choice Questions 2/3 (Two-Third) Mark shall be deducted
- No Negative Marking for Numerical Answer Type Questions
